CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois men's and women's basketball programs announced their "Salukis Go Pink" promotion on Friday, which will raise funds for a comprehensive cancer center in Southern Illinois through the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation.
For the women's game on Feb. 8 and the men's game on Feb. 18, the teams will wear special pink Under Armour jerseys. Fans can bid on a game-worn jersey at SalukisGoPink.com. Winning bidders will be notified in advance and will have the opportunity to select a name to be placed on the back of the jersey, a unique and meaningful way to commemorate a friend or loved one while advancing hope for those battling cancer in Southern Illinois. After the game, the winning bidders will receive the jersey to keep.
The model is the same as the Black Out Cancer football game, which has raised over $200,000 to help fight cancer since its inception in 2011.
