Tommy Bell, who oversaw the tremendous growth of the Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund (SASF) during the past five years, was named director of athletics at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) on Monday.
Bell, 51, established the SASF in the fall of 2002, and the fund has experienced rapid growth ever since. In just the last fiscal year, the SASF has grown more than 40 percent, surpassing the $800,000 mark.
"I am pleased that Tommy is joining the Mastodon family here at IPFW," Chancellor Dr. Michael A. Wartell said in a press conference. "He brings to us a wealth of knowledge and experience in NCAA Division I collegiate athletic administration and fund raising. Tommy's high energy level, his people skills, and his natural warmth will make him an instant success in both the Mastodon and Fort Wayne communities."
