Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Teams Sweep Drury College

    Springfield, Mo. - Sophomores Devin Aikins, Melinda Page and Andrea Johnson won two events apiece, leading the Southern Illinois University men's and women's swimming and diving teams to dual meet wins over Drury College on Saturday at Breech Pool in Springfield, Mo.

    The SIU women won their dual 130-107 while the men pulled out a three-point win, 123-120. Page won the 200 IM and the 200 breast and Johnson won the 1-Meter and 3-Meter diving events for the SIU women. Briley Bergen (1000 free), Amber Mullins (200 free) and Suzanne Souders (200 back) were also winners for the SIU women.

    The Salukis received second place finishes from Elizabeth McGowan (200 free), Brigitta Olson (200 fly), Mullins (200 back), bergen (500 free) and Melissa Hanson (1-Meter and 3-Meter dives).

    Aikins won the 1-Meter (297.98) and 3-Meter (299.63) diving events with career-best marks to lead the men. Derek Helvey and Marcelo Possato also picked up wins in the 200 free and 200 back respectively. The 400 medley relay team of Possato, Miguel King, Brent Menghini and Edoardo Daelli also picked up a victory.

    SIU added second place finishes by Helvey (500 free), Daelli (100 and 200 free), Jason Sigler (1000 free), Jake Sinclair (1-Meter and 3-Meter dives), Menghini (200 fly), Danilo Luna (200 back), King (200 breast) and the 400 free relay.

    The SIU men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete at the Northwestern Invite in Evanston Ill. Nov. 22-24 at Northwestern University.
