Justin Cortez

Position: Graduate Assistant Strength Coach

Justin Cortez enters his first year as a graduate assistant strength coach for Saluki Athletics. He will work primarily with the Saluki women's basketball team.

Cortez earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Southern Indiana in December 2010. While at USI, he worked as a strength coach with Screaming Eagle men's basketball during the 2009-10 season. Cortez also worked as the head trainer at Sports Acceleration in his hometown of Evansville, Ind. prior to coming to SIU.

Cortez is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and carries CPR/First Aid certification.
