Gabe Tippy has served as Director of the Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund at SIU since 2013. Prior to Southern Illinois, Tippy worked at the University of Houston as Assistant Director of Development for Cougar Pride from April 2012 to 2013 and Development Assistant from July 2011 to March 2012.
At the University of Houston, Tippy assisted in surpassing an annual fundraising goal and set a Cougar Pride record of $3.1 million in 2012. That figure improved to $3.5 million in 2013. He also assisted in soliciting gifts for the $105 million football stadium project and renovations for the men's basketball facility.
Tippy coordinated priority seating for floor seats, suites and priority access areas for Coach's Club for football and Director's Club for men's basketball, while also organizing requests, distribution and game-day management of priority parking for football games at the University. He also managed the University of Houston's car program, by coordinating the distribution of vehicles.
Tippy served as liaison to the "H" Association, a non-profit varsity letter-winning organization at the University of Houston, where he assisted with all the special events in the organization and was the direct contact in the athletic department for day-to-day operations. He also implemented and developed "Friends of" Program. Assisting the head coach of five sport programs with solicitation of members for each sport club. He also organized and managed the football season ticket sales drive "Seat'Em Up Coogs", in which he increased volunteer membership by 25 percent and sold over 880 tickets.
An alum of Southern Illinois University, Tippy received his bachelor's degree in Psychology in December of 2007. He later earned his master's in Sports Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Tippy is a Southern Illinois native and grew up in West Frankfort.
