    The 2014-15 school year will be Scott Gierman's fourth year working for Saluki Media Services. He is in charge of publicity efforts for the Saluki baseball and football programs.

    Gierman joined SIU in the fall of 2011 after eight years working in minor league baseball. He spent four years as media relations director and radio play-by-play announcer with the Southern Illinois Miners in Marion, Ill. With the Miners, he handled all media efforts for the 2010 Frontier League All-Star Game. Prior to his move to Southern Illinois, Gierman spent three years in the same position with the Savannah Sand Gnats, a single-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Following the 2006 season, his first as the Gnats media relations director, Gierman received the honor of South Atlantic League Media Relations Director of the Year. He began his career in baseball with a communications and advertising internship with the triple-A Charlotte Knights, a Chicago White Sox affiliate.

    A native of Griffith, Ind., Gierman earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University with a major in sport communication and minors in business and telecommunications.
