Maureen Khairallah enters her first year as assistant strength coach with Southern Illinois Athletics. She will work primarily with Saluki volleyball, softball and women's tennis as well as assisting with football.

Khairallah comes to Carbondale after serving a year as a physical education teacher and strength and conditioning coach for the Chicago Bulls Prep High School. The previous year, Khairallah held the post of head strength and conditioning coach and fitness facility coordinator at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vt. Also at Lyndon State, Khairallah served as an adjunct professor for the department of exercise science.

Khairallah served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Eastern Illinois from 2007 to 2009 in addition to completing strength and conditioning internships at Northwestern University (Spring 2007), the Quad Cities Sports Acceleration (Summer 2006), and Central College (Fall 2005).

She earned her master's degree in physical education from Eastern Illinois in 2009 and her bachelor's in exercise science from Central College in 2007. At Central, Khairallah was a three-year letterwinner in tennis, serving as team captain in 2006.
