    An ex-Marine and 1964 Olympian, Moore first ran distance at SIU at the age of 27. He earned All-American status six times. Moore ran the two-, three- and six-mile events, in addition to the 5,000-meters. He won NCAA crowns in 1967 and ran the third fastest three-mile ever run indoors.
