    Padovan was the first swimmer to be elected into the Saluki Hall of Fame. He was a two-time MVP of the annual IIAC meet and the first swimmer to break the 48-second mark in the 100-yard freestyle. At one time, he held three NCAA records in freestyle events. Padovan later became head coach of Eastern Illinois University's swim team.
