The teams combined for the most points scored in a McAndrew Stadium game - 109 points. The Salukis and the No. 25-ranked Racers combined for 1,218 yards total offense and 952 yards passing. SIU QB Sherard Poteete passed for a then-school record 399 yards. He was 20-of-31 and threw a school record-tying six touchdown passes.
