No. 13-ranked Delaware, led by QB Joe Flacco rallied to beat SIU in a nationally televised game on ESPN. The Salukis had a touchdown called back by penalty in the second half and missed two field goal attempts. Trailing 20-17, SIU could not convert either of its final two possessions in the game, stalling out at the Delaware 29 with 3:56 remaining and throwing an interception in the game's final minute. The Salukis finished with a 12-2 record, and Kill accepted an offer the following week to become Northern Illinois' head coach.
