CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's golf team will be traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii this weekend to compete in the Kent Youel Invitational.
The tournament is hosted by the University of Hawaii and will take place Tuesday Oct. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 29. Start time is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. both days at the Kapolei Golf Course. Participating teams include Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, Stanford, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside.
"We hope to end on a high notes because we haven't had an outstanding fall so far," said head coach Diane Daugherty. "I'm not so worried about our finish because this is going to be the stiffest competition we will face, I just want us to have good scores."
So far this season Southern Illinois has participated in the Payne Stewart Memorial, Johnie Imes Invitational and MVC fall preview. The Kent Youel Invitational marks the final fall tournament for the Salukis.
"We expect good weather, we know it will be windy though," Daugherty said. "If we can all break through and have some good rounds in the 70's, I'll be happy."
