Celebrating SIU Women's Athletics is scheduled for January 17-18, 2009. This celebration is designed to honor former female student-athletes who competed for SIU against teams from other schools in the years prior to and including 1980 and did not receive a traditional letter award at the time. We also want to honor coaches and staff from that time period. We've sent out questionnaires to over 400 former female student-athletes and coaches. If you completed the questionnaire, you should have received an invitation to the festivities on the weekend of January 17. Those festivities include a brunch on Saturday morning followed by half-time introductions at the women's basketball game later in the afternoon. After the game, the SIU Alumni Association will host a reception for the honorees. On Sunday, we will provide a campus tour and again introduce honorees at the half-time of the men's basketball game that evening. The detailed schedule of events is listed below. Also below you'll find links for several photo galleries from this time period that you might find interesting.

The RSVP deadline has been extended to January 7, 2009.

If you have received your invitation and sent your RSVP to attend, we still need your help.

Each attendee will receive an individualized award recognizing her participation in women's athletics. We need to gather the information to be included on the award. If you received an invitation and RSVPd that you will attend, please click here to complete the information to personalize your award.

The Alumni Association is also creating a "biography booklet" for our event so that attendees can share information with each other. Please click here to complete a biography sheet to be included in the booklet that you will receive at the event.

If you did not complete a questionnaire and did not receive an invitation, it `s not too late.

Please complete one of the questionnaires below and send it ASAP. We have extended the RSVP deadline for honorees to January 7, 2009 so that we can include as many people as possible. Check with your friends and encourage them to contact us if they're interested in attending.
