Dear Saluki Supporters, On behalf of Southern Illinois University, Saluki Athletics and our 350 student-athletes, thank you for your continuing support of the Saluki Athletic Scholarship Fund. It is because of your loyalty and dedication that we are able to maintain our longstanding athletic tradition. Each year, it is our goal to build on this rich tradition of success on the playing field and in the classroom. Competitively, the Saluki football team finished last season with an 11-2 overall record and a No. 6 national ranking. The football Salukis also won their fifth Missouri Valley Football Conference title since 2003 and made a seventh-consecutive trip to the NCAA playoffs. In men's basketball, Gene Teague earned MVC Freshman of the Year honors and women's basketball saw Stephanie Neptune earn MVC Newcomer of the Year laurels. Softball finished the season as the MVC champions with a 38-20 record. Finally, women's track and field completed a successful 2010 season as they won the MVC Outdoor Championship, finished 9th at the Nationals, while Jeneva McCall was crowned the National Champion in the discus. In the classroom, Saluki student-athletes were equally impressive as they collectively earned a cumulative GPA of 3.05 for the 2009-10 academic year. In addition, 57 percent of our student-athletes earned a 3.00 GPA or better for the spring semester. As we prepare for 2010 and the challenges ahead, please know that we can only take advantage of those opportunities with your continuing and increasing support. In addition to helping us prepare Saluki student-athletes for a successful life after they leave SIU, you also have the opportunity to receive several benefits through your generosity. SASF members are eligible for priority seating and parking for football and men's basketball as well as first priority for post-season tournament tickets and special events. Details outlining all of the benefits of membership are included in the following pages. Again, thank you for your ongoing support of Southern Illinois University and Saluki Athletics. With Saluki Pride,
Mario Moccia, Director of Athletics
