2012-13 (Sophomore): Honorable mention Academic All-Conference selection...Competed in 10 meets...Scored in the 1650 freestyle and 400 IM at the MAC Championship...Posted five top-three finishes.
2011-12 (Freshman): Competed in 13 meets, primarily in distance freestyle...Swept the 500- and 1000-yard freestyles in a dual meet against Evansville, the first two wins of his collegiate career...Finished 17th in the mile at the MAC Championships...Also swam the 200-yard butterfly and some individual medley.
Prior to SIU: Two-time All-State selection...Four-time state qualifier...Son of Lora and Mark Coots...Majoring in plant biology...Born June 13, 1992, in Dexter, Mo...Placed fourth in state in the Missouri Environthon...Has a state and federal license in falconry.
