    Chris Gaffney enters his first year as a graduate assistant and second year on head coach Rick Walker's staff in 2012-13. Gaffney served as a volunteer assistant coach in 2011-12. Gaffney swam for head coach Rick Walker and the Salukis from 2006-2010, swimming freestyle and breaststroke. Gaffney was a captain for the Salukis in both his junior and senior seasons and was a short course national qualifier in the 100 breaststroke.

    Gaffney was the head coach in the Tri County Swim League in New Jersey for five years and currently is the head coach for the Pomona Dolphins Swim Team.

    Gaffney is pursuing a Master's degree in sports studies. He is the son of Gary and Margaret Gaffney and has one brother, Patrick.

    2009-10 / Senior
    Recorded nine finishes inside the top-five...Set career best times in three events at the Mid-American Championships, swimming 56.33 in the 100 Breast placing 4th overall, 2:05.39 in the 200 Breast placing 15th overall, and 21.45 in the 50 Free...Named to the 2010 Academic All-MAC Team.

    2008-09 / Junior
    Recorded three finishes in the top three...Set career best times in three events at the Sun Belt Championships, swimming 57.87 in the 100 breast, 2:07.34 in the 200 breast, and 1:54.26 in the 200 IM.

    2007-08 / Sophomore
    Recorded a personal best time of 59.63 in the 100 breast and 2:10.30 in the 200 breast at the Sun Belt Conference Championship...Posted a 2:00.91 in the 200 IM versus Evansville...Finished second in the 200 breast at Evansville.

    2006-07 / Freshman
    Named to the Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll...Member of the 200 medley relay team that finished first against Evansville...Finished second in the 1000 free against Evansville...Finished third in the 200 breast against Drury and Louisville.

    Lettered all four years in swimming...Advanced to the state championship as a sophomore, junior and senior in the 100 breast and 500 free...Named the 2002-03 team Rookie of the Year...Selected as Most Improved Swimmer for the 2003-04 season...A Burlington City League All-Star in the 500 free, 200 medley relay, and was named second-team all-county...Also lettered in soccer, tennis, and track as a freshman...Competed with the Jersey Wahoos club swim team...Part of team that set the club record in the 200 medley relay at the NCSA Juniors...Was a sectional qualifier in multiple events.
