Athens, Ga. - The Southern Illinois men's swimming team wrapped up day one of the Bulldog Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia Saturday. The Salukis were matched up with swimmers from Florida, North Carolina, Florida State, Alabama, LSU, and host school Georgia.

The Saluki relay team of Eric Sparks, Andrew Spencer, Eddy Lynk, and Nathan Ray picked up a win (1:25.99) in the 200-yard freestyle really after an LSU team was disqualified for an early take-off.

Only a select few Saluki swimmers competed in individual events, but those who did made it count. Andrew Spencer (58.90) and Nathan Ray (59.63) finished fourth and sixth in the B Final of the 100-yard breaststroke, respectively.

Lynk finished the 200-yard freestyle seventh in 1:42.94 while Evan Wiedeman took sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.09.

Day two starts tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. preliminaries and finals beginning at 4 p.m. Live stats are available here.
