For the second consecutive year, SIU sophomore Kaixuan `Sherry' Zhang will represent the Salukis at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. After finishing in second place in both the one- and three-meter dives at last week's NCAA Zone C Qualifying Meet in Ohio, Zhang will compete in both events beginning tomorrow.
For the second year in a row, sophomore Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang qualified for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the one- and three-meter dives. This marks the fifth time in Saluki history that an athlete has qualified for the national competition.
SIU's divers have stolen the spotlight this season, coming away with conference titles, school records and Diver of the Year accolades in the last few weeks alone. This week, Kaixuan `Sherry' Zhang, Esther Chen and Kegan Skelton will represent the Salukis at the NCAA Zone C Diving Qualifying event in Columbus, Ohio.
SIU came away from the final day of the MAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships not only with a fourth place finish, but with awards for the Most Outstanding Swimmer, Most Outstanding Diver and Rick Walker as the MAC Swimming Coach of the Year.
