CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois swimming and diving team is set to host its first two traditional home meets of the year on Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium in the Student Recreation Center. The men's team will face Air Force at 6 p.m. on Friday and will face Air Force and Missouri State on Saturday at 11 a.m. The women's team will face Missouri State in a dual meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Friday's men's matchup with Air Force will be a 13-event program The teams will swim the 100-yard option on the backstroke and breaststroke, the 200-yard option on the medley relay and the 400-yard option on the freestyle relay. Saturday's matchup will be a regular 13-event program.
Both the men's and women's teams opened the season with dual wins over Evansville. Last Friday, the men's and women's teams swam in Columbia, Mo., against SEC schools and dropped those matchups.
The men's and women's teams return a combined 14 All-Conference swimmers from last season. On the women's side, Hannah Pinion and Isabela Castro both return after setting MVC Championships records in the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard butterfly, respectively. For the men, Juan Arbelaez and Justin Wolfe return after winning events at the MAC Championships.
Both meets are free to attend.
