Six earn presigious President's Council Academic Award
Ten Saluki women earned Scholar-Athlete distinction, the most for a single team male or female in 2014.
Ashley Gaston (discus) and Luke James (triple jump) won individual MVC titles on Sunday, and Josh Freeman (MVC Most Outstanding Field Athlete) and Sadie Darnell (Elite 18) were recognized as MVC award recipients.
After seven total events across both genders, the Saluki women currently rank second and the men sixth in the team scores.
Southern won three of the four total 800 meter events ran on Saturday.

Competed in the pole vault in five meets indoors and five meets outdoors...Cleared 3.37m three times (two indoors, one outdoors).
Participated in both javelin and pole vault in both the indoor and outdoor seasons...Recorded five top-three finishes, including two runner-up finishes in the pole vault during the outdoor season...Best pole vault mark came at the MVC Outdoor Championships, where her 3.58m mark earned her seventh place.
