CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki track and field concluded the inaugural Bill Cornell Spring Classic on Saturday with seven event titles en route to the women finishing in first place in the team scores and the men in second.

Day Two's top performer was junior Kenya Culmer, who won both the high jump and triple jump for 20 of Southern's 178 meet points in women's competition. Culmer first won the high jump with a clearance of 1.73m (5-08.00). Next, she won the triple jump with a wind-aided total leap of 12.33m (40-05.50) -- which now registers as the 10th best outdoor women's triple jump all-time at SIU.

Also grabbing a win in the jumps was her fellow Bahamian native, Dougie Palacious, who won the men's triple jump with a total leap of 15.00m (49-02.50). Dating back to the indoor season, this is Palacious' fifth straight triple jump victory.

J.C. Lambert earned a second Bill Cornell Spring Classic win, this time in the hammer throw. Lambert threw 65.91m (216-03) for the win, which was 12 feet better than second place. If it weren't for his SIU and MVC record-shattering throw last week at Vanderbilt, Lambert's most recent throw would have been one inch shy of SIU's all-time mark.

Southern swept the hammer throw for the second straight week, this time with the victory coming courtesy of sophomore DeAnna Price. Her winning toss of 62.31m (204-05) was also by a wide margin, measuring out at 14 feet, five inches further than second place - fellow Saluki Kim Fortney.

Freshman Josh Freeman took his first collegiate outdoor shot put win, and entered the SIU record books once again. His outdoor best heave of 18.09m (59-04.25) ranks him sixth all-time at SIU in the event. As just a freshman in only his second outdoor meet, Freeman is now less than three feet shy of throws coach John Smith's outdoor record of 62-03.50 set in 1984.

Southern's final title of the day came courtesy of Amiris Warren, who won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.97 seconds.

Saluki track and field will make the short trip to Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau, Mo., next Saturday, Apr. 6, for the Joey Haines Invite.
