CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois senior Jeneva McCall finished 10th in the discus at the NCAA Championships Wednesday, earning Second Team All-America honors in the event.

McCall posted her best mark of 177-04 on her second of three attempts in the event at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. She was just six inches short of the ninth-place spot after three attempts, which would have earned her three more attempts to throw further.

The NCAA Championships are far from over for McCall, who was named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year earlier this week. She will compete for a national title in the hammer throw Thursday and in the shot put Friday. Also competing for the SIU track and field team Thursday will be freshman DeAnna Price in the hammer throw and junior Zach Dahleen in the 1,500-meter preliminaries.
