DES MOINES, Iowa - Southern Illinois thrower Brittany Riley wrapped up a phenomenal career Friday afternoon at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium finishing second in the women's hammer throw.
The senior threw 221-03 (67.44m) to earn her sixth-career All-American honor, just over four feet behind the winner, Eva Orban of USC. She earned the Salukis eight points to bring the team total for the meet at 10, tied for 3rd place after three events scored. Bianca Stuart picked up the other two points for the Salukis on Thursday with a seventh-place finish in the long jump.
Riley is the first Saluki athlete since former thrower Amarachi Ukabam to earn six All-America awards. She wraps up her career with two indoor national championships in the women's weight and two outdoor runner-up finishes in the hammer.
