CARBONDALE, Ill.— Southern Illinois freshman thrower Bradley Sauer finished fourth in the men’s hammer throw Friday at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bloomington, Ind.

Sauer posted a throw of 67.27 meters to finish two spots back of automatically qualifying for next month's IAAF Junior World Championships. Because the throw met the qualifying standard, however, he will be eligible to compete at the World Championships if anyone ahead of him is unable.

Also competing for SIU at the USATF Junior Nationals, freshman Curtis Wideman finished 16th in the hammer throw with a throw of 56.84 meters and Mobola Rotibi did not finish in the women’s 800-meter preliminaries.

The USATF Junior Nationals continue Saturday as Saluki freshmen DeAnna Price and Sophia Lozano compete in the women's hammer throw beginning at 4:30 p.m. central.
