CARBONDALE, Ill.— Two Southern Illinois track and field athletes closed out competition at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday in Bloomington, Ind.
Freshman Curtis Wideman finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 178-04 and freshman Juan Carrera finished 12th in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:50.46.
SIU freshman DeAnna Price was the only Saluki to automatically qualify for the IAAF Junior World Championships with her second-place finish in Saturday’s women’s hammer throw final. The Junior World Championships will take place July 10-15 in Barcelona, Spain.
