Dahleen, a senior from Orland Park, Ill., split the track portion of the award with hurdler Greggmar Smith of Indiana State. After taking the MVC's indoor title in the mile run in 2012, Dahleen started 2013 off on the right foot with yet another mile victory at the Saluki Open this past weekend. He finished four seconds ahead of second place to secure one of Southern's eight event titles at the Saluki Open. As of this week, Dahleen's adjusted mile time of 4:06.07 ranks fourth in the nation.
Palacious, a junior native of Nassau, Bahamas, shared the honor with thrower Chris Fields, also of Indiana State. Palacious already has two triple jumps titles to his credits this season. Palacious' 14.99m mark at the Saluki Open was nearly a meter better than the second place finisher, and currently places him at 17th in the nation in the triple jump. In two meets, Palacious has beaten second place by an average of over half a meter at .62m.
Saluki track and field will make their first road trip of the season this Saturday to Champaign, Ill. for the Illini Classic.
