CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Saluki cross country will host six visiting schools for its annual Saluki Invitational this Saturday at 10 a.m.
Coming to Carbondale this weekend will be Kaskaskia College, Lindenwood-Belleville, Missouri Baptist, Murray State, Northwest Missouri and Rend Lake. Southern swept the invitational last year, which included an overall victory by Sadie Darnell in the women's 5K and a dominant performance by the men in the 8K -- where they took positions two through 12.
The Saluki men will be at full strength for the first time in 2013 with the return of NCAA Qualifier Brian Dixon and fellow All-MVC honorees Juan Carrera, Zach Dahleen, Oscar Medina and Nick Schrader.
The Saluki women are coming off a powerful showing at the EIU Walt Crawford Open on Sept. 6, where SIU scored seven runners in the top-15 -- including Sadie Darnell's third career victory.
The women's 5K begins at 10 a.m., and the men's 8K will start at approximately 10:45 a.m.
