ST. Toennies and Dunbar were honored for their performance during the period of September 20-26.

Now in its 12th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies. On a weekly basis, the Conference honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.

"Prairie Farms is a long-time partner with this program which provides an important vehicle to recognize our top student-athletes," said Commissioner Elgin, who is in his 23rd year with The Valley. A member of the SIU men's cross country team, Dunbar, a senior from O'Fallon, Ill., made his 2010 debut for the Salukis a successful one, as he captured the 8K race at the Saluki Invitational.

The MVC Male Runner of the Week, Dunbar, who has a 3.878 cumulative grade-point average in management, keyed SIU's team championship with a winning time of 25:29.60 and led a group of Salukis who posted three of the top four times.
