Dixon, a junior from Springfield, Ill., helped the Salukis win the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Normal, Ill.
Dixon, who has a 3.955 cumulative grade-point average in accounting, placed sixth overall in an 8k time of 24:42 to earn all-conference honors for a second-consecutive season.

Rushing, who has a 3.625 cumulative GPA in sport administration, outdistanced the second-place finisher by four strokes and was five strokes better than her previous 54-hole personal best.
Southern Illinois swept the male and female weekly honor for the first time this season. Dixon earned the honor for the fourth time this season and has earned the distinction four of the last six weeks. Rushing is the third different athlete to win on the women's side, joining Alysia Mayes and Bailey Yaeger. SIU athletes have earned Scholar-Athlete of the Week seven times this semester, the most of any MVC school.
To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Now in its 14th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom.
