NCAA Midwest Regional Information
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Southern Illinois men's and women's cross country squads will compete at Missouri State for tomorrow's NCAA Midwest Regional for a chance at nationals.
A total of 65 schools (30 men, 35 women) and 604 student athletes will compete for a shot at the NCAA Championships next week in Louisville, Ky. The top two schools and the four best individuals not on an advancing team will advance to compete there next week.
Between the men and women, seven schools are nationally ranked in the top-30. Both Saluki squads are ranked regionally -- the men ninth, the women 14th -- and this will be the second time this season the Saluki men have faced off against the No. 1 team in the nation (No. 1 Wisconsin, Sep. 29, Sean Earl Lake Front Invitational) as No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State will be in attendance.
The women's 6K race is scheduled for noon, the men's 10K is set for approximately 1:15 p.m.
