Mundo Spirit Award...ranked among the top-five MVC individuals in batting average (2nd, .380), on-base percentage (5th, .450), runs scored (3rd, 57), hits (1st, 92), total plate appearances (3rd, 287) and at-bats (3rd, 242)...broke SIU's all-time single-season record with 92 hits...ranked 11th in the nation among hitters toughest to strikeout, as he struck out just 13 times in 242 ABs...started all 59 games as the Dawgs' center fielder and committed only three errors on the year...topped the Salukis in runs (57), hits (92), stolen bases (15) and walks (25)...also led his team with 30 multiple-hit games, including seven with three or more hits...hit .415 (39-for-94) with 22 runs, six doubles, two triples, 14 RBI, 16 walks and eight stolen bases, while striking out just five times in 24 conference starts...hit .545 (6-for-11) with three runs scored, a double, one triple, two RBI, two walks and two stolen bases in three games against Illinois State (May 19-21)...hit .500 in a series two other times against both Evansville (Apr. 22-24) and Stetson (Feb. 11-13)...hit .362 with 27 runs, 42 hits, seven doubles, two triples and 20 RBI in 29 home starts.
2004: Made 54 starts, with all but two being in left field...hit a third-best .293, while ranking fourth on the team in runs scored (33), second in hits (63), first in stolen bases (16), second in walks (22), tied for second in on-base percentage (.374) and tied for second in triples (2)...hit close to .300 (.291) as the Dawgs' lead off hitter, and collected 55 of his hits over 48 games in that spot...had most success of any Saluki hitting with runners in scoring position...hit an impressive .451 (23-for-51) in those situations...drove in eight runs and posted four of his seven doubles in conference games...was named to the all-tournament team at the Irish Classic in San Antonio, Texas (Mar. 6-9)...hit .368 (7-for-19) with three runs scored, a walk and three stolen bases, as three of his four games in the tournament consisted of two hits...held a seven-game hitting streak from Feb. 28 to Mar. 18...during that time, he had multiple hits in five of the seven outings...registered a season-high four hits going 4-for-4 with a run scored, one double, a walk and a stolen base at SE Missouri State on Apr. 21...led the Salukis at the MVC Tournament (Mar. 26-29), where he hit .389 (7-for-18) with four runs, a double, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
Pre-SIU: Three-sport athlete, who played baseball, football and basketball at Conant High School...two-time all-conference honoree and team MVP in baseball...hit .392 as a sophomore, .402 as a junior and .429 as a senior...selected to the Northwest Suburban Junior Showcase, Team One North Showcase and played in the Jack Kaiser All-Star Game at U.S Cellular Field...garnered Daily Herald all-area honors as both a junior and senior...also a two-time all-conference pick in football and was a Class 8A all-state defensive back as a senior.
