2005: Played in 23 games, including 15 starts...hit .228 (13-for-57) with seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple, his first career home run and six RBI...the only round-tripper of his career was a two-run smash at New Orleans (Feb. 20)...he finished that game by going 2-for-5 with a run scored, homer, a double and career-high three RBI...delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning against Northern Illinois (Mar. 5)...went 4-for-8 with a run scored, one double and a triple in two games against Chicago State (Mar. 11, Mar. 13)...posted three multiple-hit games, two of which came at home.
2004: Started in 38 of 45 games behind the plate...registered one double, 12 hits, 11 runs scored and six RBI...drew 11 walks and stole a perfect 3-of-3 bases...gunned down 10 runners on the basepaths...had three multiple-hit games and drove in a pair of runs on one occasion...went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a double, one walk and a career-high two RBI against Bradley on Mar. 28...also went 2-for-3 with a career-best two runs scored against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on May 16...went errorless in his first 16 games to start the season.
2003: Shared quality time with two-time, first-team all-MVC catcher Toby Barnett...hit .294 with four runs, two doubles and two RBI in 18 games...gunned down six of 12 runners trying to steal...registered back-to-back multiple-hit games against Northern Iowa (Mar. 21 & Mar. 23)...went a combined 4-for-5 with two RBI in those contests...finished his freshman campaign by going 1-for-2 with a double in a wooden bat game against Saint Louis (May 13).
Pre-SIU: Named all-conference, all-county and all-area at Grant High School...two-time MVP and Northwest Suburban Junior Showcase All-Star...hit .389 with 12 doubles and 30 RBI as a junior...participated in the Summer Baseball League National Championships in 2001...also played basketball, where he helped lead his team to a pair of conference championships.
