NORMAL, Ill.-Chris Frank went 3-for-4 with three RBI out of the nine-hole to help Illinois State University (20-33, 10-14) overcome a four-run deficit and beat Southern Illinois (33-23, 12-12), 6-5, earlier today. The Redbirds took the three-game series.

SIU dropped its last two series in league play, and as a result, will head to the 2006 ConAgra Foods Missouri Valley Conference as a fifth-seed. The Salukis will face second-seeded Missouri State in the first round of the tournament Wednesday.

The Salukis jumped on the 'Birds early, building a 5-1 lead after plating one run in the first, two in the second and two in the third.

However, Dean Cademartori's two-run homer in the third marked the last of SIU's scoring.

From that point on, SIU managed to get five runners in scoring position, three of which made it to third base, but couldn't get them in.

Meanwhile, four Redbirds reached base via a walk and scored to help fuel the comeback.

Kevin Dubler, who walked three times on the day, scored three runs, while Kris Jenkins scored a run after drawing a pair of walks.

Dubler scored the tying run on a two-out single by Frank. Mike Stalowy then reached on an error and scored the winning run on Matt Bolt's single to left.

Mike Hlavacek finished the year at 2-1 after going 1.1 innings without allowing a hit or a run.

Dan Frega was credited with the save.

Cody Adams took the fall in relief. He fell to 4-4.

Offensively, the Dawgs had 12 hits, with Grant Gerrard, Erik Alvarez, Cademartori and Tyler Lairson posting two apiece.

All six seedings for the 2006 ConAgra Foods MVC Tournament are now set. Evansville, this year's outright regular-season champion, is the top-seed, and will face No. 6 Bradley. The other matchup in addition to SIU and MSU consists of No. 3 Wichita State vs. No. 4 Creighton.

The Valley Tournament, which is held at Wichita State's Eck Stadium-Tyler Field runs from May 24-27.
