Arkansas State won two games over SIU last year, as the two teams played a three-game series on opening weekend. The third game of the series was rained out. ASU won 14-5 and 5-3.
SIU leads the all-time series against the Red Wolves, 47-20. The teams first met in 1947.
After striking out just 13 times in their first four games this year, the Salukis struck out 34 times in the three-game series at No. 7 South Carolina last weekend.
The Salukis are looking for their first true road victory of the season. SIU has won two neutral site games, but is 0-5 when playing at an opponents home park.
SIU is in a stretch where its first 11 games of the season are on the road and 16 of its first 18 are away from home.
Junior Jordan Sivertsen has hit safely in all seven games this year and he needs one hit in Tuesday's game to tie his longest hitting streak in his career, which he set as a freshman in 2009.
Senior center fielder Chris Murphy needs two more hits for 200 in his career.
