→ The Southern Illinois baseball team is poised for a historic weekend, as the Salukis are the first team to play a weekend series at the new $131 million T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. SIU faces Creighton at the new ballpark that replaces Rosenblatt Stadium, which was home to the College World Series from 1950-2010. SIU and Creighton are set for a Friday night game followed by afternoon affairs on Saturday and Sunday.
→ Saturday's game is being televised locally in Nebraska through NET, but Saluki fans can view the broadcast for free via the internet by visiting http://www.netnebraska.org/television/stream/.
→ Southern Illinois has not taken a series from Creighton in Omaha since 2003, when the Salukis won 2-for-3 games. Since then, Southern is just 2-7 when playing the Jays in Omaha and in its last trip there in 2009, Creighton swept SIU.
→ Creighton enters the weekend with a league-leading 5-1 record in Valley play, while Southern Illinois is tied for second at 4-2.
→ Jordan Sivertsen has driven in 23 runs in 13 games in the month of April.
→ Sophomore pitcher Cody Forsythe is looking to improve to 3-0 in Valley play Saturday, but he will be going up against Creighton's Jonas Dufek who is 6-0 overall on the year.
→ SIU enters the weekend with a four-game winning streak in road games.
→ First baseman Wes Neece enters the weekend with a nine-game hitting streak and he is looking to become the second Saluki this year to have a hitting streak of 10 games or longer. Brock Harding had a 12-game hitting streak from March 16-April 6.
