Incoming Saluki freshman infielders Greg Lambert and Chase Slone helped lead the Tennessee Knights to an 18-and-under national championship in the 13th annual Perfect Game World Wood Bat Association. It is one of the premiere amateur baseball tournaments in the nation.

Lambert and Slone led the Knights to a perfect 11-0 record in the 144-team tournament, which was held in the Atlanta area. The tournament culminated this weekend with the Knights’ 7-6 win in the championship game over the Georgia Roadrunners.

Lambert, a third baseman from Athens, Alabama, was selected to the All-Tournament team, hitting .333 with five doubles, a triple, two home runs and 11 RBIs. He scored the winning run in the semifinal game on Slone’s extra-inning, walk-off single. That gave the Knights a 1-0 victory over Florida-based Next Level Baseball.

Slone, a native of Murfreesboro, Tennesssee, hit .356 with a double and a triple in the tournament and did not commit an error while playing all 11 games at shortstop.
