Luke Scheidecker joined the Saluki Basketball staff in the summer of 2012 as the team's Assistant Director of Basketball Operations after spending the previous four years with the SEMO men's basketball program.
As an undergrad, Scheidecker served as the team manager from 2009-11, overseeing and organizing the daily responsibilities of players and managers. In 2011, he took on the added title of Director of Basketball Operations.
In his capacity as operations director, Scheidecker coordinated all aspects of team travel. He also handled scheduling for non-conference games, coordinated recruiting trips and official visits, and organized film exchange.
Some of his other administrative tasks included serving as liaison for visiting teams and booster relations, maintaining head coach Dickey Nutt's schedule, monitoring the basketball budget and serving as director of the coaching clinic.
As camp director in 2011 and 2012, Scheidecker marketed Coach Nutt's individual and team camps, oversaw a working staff of 62 individuals, while working with 42 high school teams. Attendance at SEMO camps doubled in his second year.
Prior to joining the staff at SIU in August of 2012, Scheidecker served as an interim assistant coach at SEMO for one month.
His coaching background includes serving as an assistant in 2010 for Next Level Global Sports, where he ran workouts for kids ranging in age from 5-18. He also served as sixth-grade head coach of KC Premier Basketball, working for Fresno State assistant Byron Jones.
Scheidecker earned a bachelor's degree in general studies with a minor in sports management from SEMO in 2012.
