Saluki men's basketball coach Chris Lowery confirmed Friday that forward Christian Cornelius and guard Torres Roundtree have left the program.

Cornelius is a fourth-year junior who graduated in December. He was averaging 2.6 ppg in a reserve role. The Oak Park, Ill. native has had multiple knee surgeries since arriving at SIU and often played in pain, Lowery said.

"At this point in his career, he felt he couldn't compete at this high a level," Lowery said.

Roundtree was averaging 1.2 ppg in a reserve role for the Salukis. He was 3-of-12 shooting from the field in 12 games, including four starts.

"It's unfortunate we lost a player as talented as Roundtree," Lowery said. "He's a kid we definitely wanted to see blossom. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough playing time for everybody on the team. That's part of life. Sometimes, you have to work for things. Things aren't going to be given to you."
