CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saluki Athletics announced Friday that three men's basketball players have been suspended for three games for a violation of team rules and the University conduct code. Juniors Mykel Cleveland and Troy Long, and sophomore Gene Teague were cited after an incident on campus on Thursday evening.

"I am extremely disappointed in the actions of our three student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Mario Moccia. "The incident will be reviewed by the University judicial process, and we will not discuss specifics until that process is complete."

Cleveland, a transfer from Southwestern Illinois College, is the team's starting point guard and averages 3.5 points and 2.2 assists per game. Long is a reserve guard who transferred from Southeastern Illinois College. Teague is the team's starting center and averages 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.

Southern Illinois has a 10-13 overall record and is currently tied for seventh place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 4-8 league mark.
