CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University sophomore guard Josh Swan will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, head coach Barry Hinson announced on Friday.

Swan injured his left knee during last week's loss to Illinois State and played only 16 minutes in Tuesday's win over No. 22 ranked Wichita State. Surgery has not been scheduled.

"My heart goes out to Josh, who has been playing terrific basketball for us as of late," Hinson said. "You could see how the light had come on for him. He was making great strides, and we will certainly miss him."

The Atlanta native had started three-straight games prior to Tuesday and was averaging nearly 10 points per game during that span. In the conference season, he is shooting 51 percent from the field -- second on the team behind Dantiel Daniels. Among his highlights on the season were scoring the go-ahead basket with 90 seconds remaining in the win at Green Bay and grabbing a career-high five steals versus Creighton.

"Josh is an incredible young man on and off the court," Hinson said. "He has a 3.3 GPA, is on a pace to graduate within three years, and has been an excellent representative of our program. We wish him a speedy recovery."
