CARBONDALE, Ill. - In response to head coach Barry Hinson's plea to sell-out SIU Arena for the March 1 men's basketball home game versus Illinois State, Saluki Athletics announced today that all upper bowl seats for the contest will be discounted to $5. There is also a a limited supply of lower-level seats in the corners and baseline bleachers that are available for $10.

"We need to have a night where we sell this place out," Hinson said after Tuesday's win over Bradley. "That's when you've turned the corner -- when you start winning and you start selling this place out. I'm asking you a big favor. Will you come honor the four seniors that we have? Let's sell out the arena for Senior Day."

The Salukis will honor seniors Desmar Jackson, Davante Drinkard, Bronson Verhines and Colby Long in a pre-game ceremony before the ISU game, which tips off at 3:05 p.m.

The last sold-out game at the arena was exactly six years ago to the day, when 9,345 fans saw Southern play Illinois State on Mar. 1, 2008. That team advanced to the NIT, where it beat Oklahoma State before losing in the second round to Arizona State. The Salukis are 11-17 this season but have won five of their last seven games and are contending for one of the top six seeds at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office in SIU Arena, by phone at 618-453-2000, online at or at McLeod Theater on campus. All fans who purchase a men's ticket receive free admission to the women's game that night versus Wichita State at 6:05 p.m. The first 5,000 into the Arena receive a Grow with SIU Flower seed pack courtesy of Southern Illinois University.
