After opening the season with three home wins, all . . . of which were against teams it lost to a year ago, SIU has now neutralized its fast start with as many road losses in a row and two of the three were to teams the Salukis had defeated in 2000-2001.

The Salukis' current 3-3 record is identical to their . . . six-game mark of a year ago going into Sunday's home appearance against Murray State's 4-1 Racers. Tipoff is set for 3:05 p.m. and will be SIU's first home game since the Salukis trimmed Ball State Nov. 25.

Within 16 hours following the Murray State game, the . . . Salukis will be on their way to Hawaii where they're scheduled to play three games in the Yahoo! Sports Invitational. SIU will make its debut in Laie, Hawaii, Thursday night (Dec. 21) against Ole Miss in a 7 p.m. (CST) game.

In their second tourney outing, the Salukis will be . . . going against either USC or the host team, BYU-Hawaii. Their third -- and final -- game in the meet will be against one of the four teams in the opposite bracket: Iowa State, Troy State, Boise State and BYU-Provo.

In going against Murray State, the Salukis will be . . . facing the team they lost to in Bruce Weber's head coaching debut at SIU. The two teams collided Nov. 14, 1998 when the Racers were dedicating their new arena. Murray State, a 65-62 winner in that game, holds a 13-10 edge over the Salukis, but has won only three of eight games played in Carbondale.
