CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University men's basketball head coach Barry Hinson announced today that guards Marcus Fillyaw and Mike Balogun will transfer at the end of the school year.

Fillyaw, a 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard, started the first 16 games and was leading the team in assists prior to breaking a bone in his non-shooting hand on Jan. 8. He missed 10 games and returned to play in four games at the end of the season. The Topeka, Kan. native averaged 3.7 points per game.

Balogun, a 6-foot-2 junior, played in 26 games off the bench and averaged 3.0 points. He had a career-high 21 points at Chicago State, in which he made 5-of-8 shots from 3-point. After going more than a month without making a trey, he went 5-for-11 from 3-point against Evansville on Jan. 11.

"We've enjoyed our time with Michael and Marcus and we wish them the very best," Hinson said.
