CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saluki Athletics has announced its first-ever Select-A-Seat Tour for Saluki Football and Basketball season tickets, partnering with Withers Broadcasting to visit Saluki Sports Network radio affiliates throughout southern Illinois later this month.
Representatives from the athletic department will be in attendance to take orders and answer questions in Harrisburg, Mt. Vernon, Benton and Nashville, July 22-26. A wall-sized seating chart will allow fans to pick their seat locations.
Saluki Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Reis will be on-hand at the Mt. Vernon, Benton and Nashville stops to meet fans and talk about the upcoming seasons.
The University is nearing completion of the new Saluki Stadium, which will significantly enhance the fan experience with improved seating and sight lines, better parking and concessions and a state-of-the-art video board, among the numerous amenities. The six-game home schedule begins on Thursday, Sept. 2 versus Quincy.
SIU Arena is also undergoing a major retrofit that will include new seating, a permanent upper concourse with more concessions and restrooms, and a giant video board. The schedule has not been formally announced, but non-conference opponents will include New Mexico, plus a nationally televised christening of the arena as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tipoff Marathon on Nov. 16.
In football, reserved seating is still available near midfield on the east side of the horseshoe-shaped facility. In the arena, a limited number of chairback seats remain.
