CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois men's basketball team, along with The Women's Center of Carbondale, held its second-annual Ladies Night Out in the SIU arena on Thursday night.

The Women's Center has been serving Southern Illinois for 40 years. Their mission is to bring an end to sexual assault and domestic violence against all races, genders and ages. The staff and volunteers at The Women's Center go above and beyond the call of duty to assist survivors of these crimes and their non-offending significant others.

Ladies Night Out is a way for the SIU players, the staff and the women in attendance to help raise awareness for The Women's Center and their cause. The event included a Q&A with head coach Barry Hinson and the players, on-court shooting with the players, a strength & conditioning demonstration, and a full tour of the locker room.

The ladies in attendance enjoyed every minute of their time spent with the team. A few ladies even had the chance to experience dunking a ball on a regulation sized goal, with a little help from senior forward Davante Drinkard of course, while others had the chance to shoot game speed shots with senior guard Desmar Jackson.

Proceeds benefited The Women's Center of Carbondale.
