CARBONDALE, Ill. - The five-man freshman class of Southern Illinois University men's basketball players will make a public appearance at University Mall in Carbondale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, as part of the Saluki Basketball Toy Drive.

Fans can drop off new or gently used toys at the mall's Saluki Team Store and visit with Saluki freshmen Harry Whitt, Josh Swan, Treg Setty, Dantiel Daniels and Antonio Bryer. The group has spearheaded the team's effort to bring toys to disadvantaged children during this holiday season.

Saluki fans who donate a toy will receive a $5 off coupon for a Saluki Basketball ticket. Fans can also continue to drop off toys at the Saluki Athletics ticket office during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) each day through Monday night's game versus SIU-Edwardsville. An additional drop-off box is located at the administrative offices of Lingle Hall.

Toys will be provided to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program for distribution.

The toy drive has collected more than 150 toys so far, including a recent donation of 42 toys from Marion High School students. Whitt said the goal is to gather 500 toys.
