The 2013 season was Cory Warren's second season on Dale Lennon's staff, serving as a graduate assistant in charge of the team's outside linebackers. In 2012 he worked with outside linebacker Jayson DiManche who recorded 8.0 sacks, tied for second most in the conference, and earned second-team All-MVFC honors.

Warren played collegiately at Kansas State for former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Raheem Morris in 2006 and 2007. He was a member of the Wildcats 2006 Texas Bowl team.

A back injury cut short Warren's career, and he transitioned into a student-assistant coach at K-State (2008-10), where he mentored various positions on defense under head coach Bill Snyder. The 2010 team advanced to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. Warren graduated from KSU with a degree in family studies and human services.

In 2011, Warren coached the offensive line at Hutchinson Community College.
