Mike McElroy recorded his first two interceptions of the season against the Jacks. McElroy moved into sole possession of fourth in school history with 13 career picks, just one shy of tying Korey Lindsey for third in school history with 14.
It was the third time in McElroy's career he recorded two interceptions in a game.
Jewel Hampton scored two touchdowns, his 12th and 13th of the season. With 13 touchdowns in 2011, Hampton moved into ninth in school history in single-season rushing touchdowns.
Hampton has 21 touchdowns in 23 career games.
Hampton now has seven career multi-touchdown games, five of which have been this season.
Hampton recorded career highs in carries (28), yards (167) and longest rush (53).
Hampton is now 147 yards shy of becoming the 1,000 yards on the season, which has happened 18 times previously in school history.
Hampton's 167 yards were the most by a Saluki since Deji Karim rushed for 273 yards against Illinois State on Oct. 10, 2009.
The Salukis blocked a punt for the first time since Luke Thuston blocked a punt against Illinois State last year.
Terrell Wilson recorded his third pick of the season, which leads the team.
SIU came into the game with four interceptions all year but recorded three against SDSU. It was the second time the Salukis recorded a three-interception game; the first time was against Missouri State in the third game of the season.
SIU now has seven three-interception games in the last three years.
Kenneth Boatright recorded a sack for the fifth time in seven games. Boatright has a team-high 5.5 sacks on the season.
MyCole Pruitt had more than 80 yards for the third time in five games.
Quarterback Kory Faulkner had his first multi-touchdown game rushing. Faulkner became the second Saluki quarterback to rush for two scores in a game; Paul McIntosh rushed for two scores against Missouri State.
The Saluki defense recorded a sack for the 25th time in 26 games.
Steve Strother recorded 16 yards on one kickoff return, giving him 560 for the season. Strother's 2011 campaign is the fourth best kickoff return yardage in school history, just two yards shy of moving into third place.
