Running back Brandon Jacobs represented Southern Illinois in a big way in Saturday's East-West Shrine game. The Saluki senior led all rushers with 102 yards on 11 carries.

Jacobs scored two touchdowns in the game, won by the East, 45-27. His second TD score took place late in the third quarter when the 6-foot-4, 260 pounder turned the corner and sprinted 52 yards for a score.

The game, filled with pro prospects from colleges throughout the country, is considered a good indicator of a players' National Football League chances. In 2004, all but four of the East-West Shrine competitors were either drafted or signed via free agency by NFL teams.

Jacobs has been invited to the NFL's annual scouting combine in Indianapolis in February, which is another key event leading up to the April draft.
