    CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois football coaching staff will host the 2012 Spring Coaching Clinic on Saturday, April 14. The clinic will feature four guest speakers, the SIU staff and the opportunity to watch a Saluki football practice.

    Cost for the clinic is $20 per coach or $50 per staff. Registration begins at 9 a.m. for those who choose to watch the Salukis practice at 9:30. After practice, there will be a lunch break, followed by registration at noon for those who didn't watch practice. Conference materials and lunch are included in the cost of the clinic.

    This year's guest speakers are Al Martin, Mike Rude, John Ivlow and Kerry Martin. Al Martin is the head coach at DuQuoin High School and has coached in five state championship games and won State titles in 1988 and 1992. Martin will speak on "Surviving on both sides of the ball in high school."

    Mike Rude is the head coach at Vienna High School. He is in the Illinois High School Hall of Fame and is a five-time coach of the year. Rude will speak on outside linebacker play in the 3-4 defense.

    John Ivlow is the was the 2011 IHSA Coach of the Year and coached Bolingbrook High School to the 8A State championship. He will lead off the guest speakers at speak about offense at 1 p.m.

    Kerry Martin is the head coach at Marion High School, where he was won back-to-back conference titles. He has 17 playoff appearances in his career and won the State championship in 1996. He will speak on zone running and complement plays.
